Gemini Deposit Fees: ACH, Wire, Card and PayPal Costs

Gemini deposit fees per its January 20, 2026 schedule: ACH and wire free, debit card 3.49%, PayPal 2.50%, crypto free. Worked costs at $100 to $1,000.

Gemini deposit fees, per its Transfer Fee Schedule dated January 20, 2026: ACH and wire deposits are free from Gemini’s side, though your bank may charge to send a wire. A debit card costs 3.49% of the purchase amount and PayPal 2.50% of the deposit amount. Depositing crypto costs nothing.

This desk read Gemini’s Transfer Fee Schedule and its support pages on payment methods and transfer limits on 9 October 2026. This is an evergreen reference to that schedule, not news: the figures hold until Gemini posts a new version, and the schedule says how much warning that gets. The outbound half of the same schedule is in our Gemini withdrawal fees post.

Gemini deposit fees by rail, worked in dollars

The dollar columns are this desk’s arithmetic on the published percentages, not figures Gemini prints.

The $1,000 column is also the ceiling for two rails. Gemini’s transfer limits page caps debit card purchases and PayPal purchases or deposits at $1,000 a day each, and says the PayPal limit cannot be raised. The ACH, card and PayPal limits are independent of each other. Wire deposits have no limit.

Is a debit card a deposit on Gemini?

Not in the sense of putting cash on your balance. The limits page says debit cards “can only be used to complete a trade” and are not available for fiat deposits or withdrawals. The card buys crypto directly, and the 3.49% is charged on that purchase. Whatever the trading side costs is priced on a different page; our Gemini app vs ActiveTrader fees post reads that one, and the ActiveTrader fee schedule review goes through the order-book ladder.

How long do Gemini deposits take to clear?

Per Gemini’s payment methods page, ACH is US only. Gemini submits ACH requests at 5pm ET on business days, credits funds for trading at its discretion, and releases them for withdrawal after four to five business days. Domestic USD wires sent before 3pm ET typically land the same or next business day; SWIFT wires are withdrawable once credited. PayPal, also US only, clears in one to five business days, and nothing can be withdrawn back through PayPal.

How much notice does Gemini give before changing deposit fees?

The schedule’s notice clause covers fiat transfer fees and crypto deposit fees: a change is posted at least three calendar days before it takes effect, and no change stays in effect for less than 30 calendar days. Three days is not much warning. Read the schedule’s date before a large PayPal or card purchase.

What do other Gemini fee pages leave out?

Anytime Capital’s comparison, marked “Updated September 2026” and read by this desk on 9 October 2026, prints the 3.49% card fee and puts a $1,000 card order at about $55. In the text read, the word PayPal does not appear, and neither do the daily caps or the notice terms. It also says its Gemini figures come partly from “independent reviews”. The schedule is the better document.

Gemini deposit fees: frequently asked questions

Does Gemini charge a fee to deposit money?

Not by bank. Gemini’s Transfer Fee Schedule dated January 20, 2026 lists ACH and wire deposits as free, with a footnote that your own bank may charge to send a wire. The paid rails are PayPal, at 2.50% of the deposit amount, and a debit card, at 3.49% of the purchase amount. Crypto deposits carry no fee.

Is it free to deposit on Gemini?

It is free by ACH, by wire on Gemini’s side, and for crypto sent in from another wallet. It is not free by PayPal or debit card. Free is not the same as instant, though: Gemini’s support page says ACH funds become withdrawable after four to five business days.

Why was I charged a fee for using a transfer to fund my Gemini account?

Gemini’s schedule charges nothing for ACH or wire deposits, so a charge on a bank transfer most likely came from the bank that sent it; the schedule’s own footnote says your bank may charge to wire money in. If the funding was by PayPal, Gemini adds 2.50% of the deposit amount, which can read like a transfer fee.

How much does Gemini charge for debit card purchases?

3.49% of the total purchase amount, per the January 20, 2026 schedule: $3.49 on a $100 buy, $34.90 on $1,000. That is the card fee alone, before any trading-side charge on the purchase. Gemini’s support pages cap debit card purchases at $1,000 a day and say a card completes a trade rather than funding a cash balance.

Check the schedule’s date against the one above before you fund, and treat this as a reading of published documents, not advice; crypto assets are high risk, and the decision to buy any is yours to research.
